WELCOME

University of Coimbra - Old Tower

-The Society for Low Temperature Biology, the Society for Cryobiology and the Organizing Committees of CRYOBIOMOL 2003 are pleased to invite those working in all branches of Cryobiology or its applications to participate in this congress, which will be held at the University of Coimbra, Portugal.

DEADLINES FOR REDUCED REGISTRATION & SUBMISSION OF ABSTRACTS HAVE NOW BEEN SURPASSED (15th June 2003)

Late Registration is still possible

-CRYOBIOMOL is an excellent opportunity for cryobiologists, low temperature physicists and chemists, biochemists, pharmaceuticals and medical doctors involved in all branches of cryobiology and related scientific fields to present their research work to the international scientific community and discuss it with some of the most prestigious scientists in this field of science. All methods and techniques useful in cryobiology, as well as supporting theoretical or computational methods, will be discussed in the conference.

-CRYOBIOMOL Scientific Programme will comprise four days of oral presentations (invited and contributing lectures) and posters. Besides, an exhibition of instruments, accessories, software and scientific books will also be held during the conference. Selected contributions and all abstracts presented in the congress will be published in a special volume of CRYOBIOLOGY.

 MAIN TOPICS

-CRYOBIOMOL is a general cryobiology meeting. However, some selected topics will be focused in greater detail by the invited lecturers:

-Life in extreme low temperature conditions
-Cryopreservation of plants and vegetal cells and tissues
-Low temperature Physics and Chemistry of biological molecules
      -Cryoprotective solutions and  vitrification
      -Freezing, drying and dielectric heating
      -Cryosurgery and Cryomedicine
-Cryopreservation of reproductive cells (sperm, oocytes) and embryos
      -Organs and tissues cryopreservation
      -Ethical aspects of Cryobiology
